The Help

NOW I have finally seen The Help!

For a long time I been wanting to see this movie and ofc the famous scene with the "chocolate pie"...

But for those who not yet have seen the movie, here is a quick summary of the plot:

The Help is set in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960's. At this time the civil rights movement was in an early stage, so therefore Jackson was a racially segregated town. The action in the film revolve around just that.

There are three main characters. Two black and one white: Minny, Aibileen and Skeeter (the three women from the left in the picture). They come together to publish a book of anonymously written stories about the experiences of black women working as maids for white families in Jackson.

I must admit that it does not sound like the most exciting movie. Maids writing a book about housework and cleaning and all... BUT there is right here the brilliance of this movie is. Those stories, I would say, are both scary true and hilarious. They are credible stories about the racial segregation from a black maid's point of view and at the same time they are taking it to high levels of humor.

It is a brilliant movie I recommend EVERYONE OF YOU to watch. You will laugh, you will cry and I can assure you, you will not be disappointed!

My Father Is NOT a VIKING!!

I don't like skiing!
I don't eat fish!
My father is not a viking!
There are not polarbears in the street AND
we do have SUMMER!

Norway in my <3

These are only some of the Norwegian stereotypes, YOU people have! Don't get me wrong, I love you guys<3 But I have to say, stereotypes can be both insulting and VERY funny. My father is not a viking and sometimes it feels like that is the only thing there is to Norway. Vikings and snow. Sooo I would like to grab the uppertunity to write something on behalf of all superb nations in this magnificent world we live in, that there are more to France than baguettes and berets, more to China than smartasses and furtunecookies, more to England than red phonebothes and Mr. Bean and probably more to Sweden than cheap bacon and stupid people too. Not that I don't like Swedish people or anything, to be honest I love their bacon, it's just that they are really easy to make fun of..

BUT the moral in all this is the following:

DO NOT JUDGE THE PEOPLE BY THEIR NATION'S STEREOTYPES! Swedish people too.

The Assassination

On 30th of January 1948 Mahatma Gandhi was assasinated. You don't dare to tell me that you don't know who Gandhi was! Gandhi was one of the most facinating and inspiriting persons here on this earth. He stood up against the British and got all of India and South - Africa with him. He wanted to eliminate the discrimination and he did. Without using any violence! That's an acomplishment, I believe, only a man of great knowledge, will and committment could be able to carry through.

But what I wanted to talk about in this blogentry was his assassination. That day in January he was shot at point-blank range by a man named Nathuram Godse. He was an hindutva activist, and at the time of the assassination Gandhi had just given the muslims the areas in India where it was Muslim-majority. The hindus saw this as a betrail, because Gandhi himself was a Hindu. Gandhi believed it would bring peace, but instead he was assassinated because of his agreement to this seperation of muslim and hindu.

Gandhi was, at the time of his death, a man who we all remember as old and always wearing his little round glasses. But I hope after you've read this, you will remember him for much more than that.
Truely a man of knowledge, will and committment, and a man who inspired millions of people and changed. something, ment something and made a diffrence.

A man who will be remembered as one of the most important in the history og humanity.

Underwater gardener?

Say whaat? That's what I thought. But recently a lot of underwater gardeners have been hyred to plant corals.  The Great Barrier Reef off the northeast coast is being threatened big time lately. I bet you all have heard about the great barrier reef. If you havn't, google it :) Well, anyway, as I said: The great barrier reef is threatened by huge ships crashing into the reef and spreading oil all over the place. It's a big problem, because if the coral reef die, we will die. Because the coral reefs produce ocsygen. Ergo without it, we can't breath. That would be a shame.. AND sadest of all is that it is sooooo beautiful! I have been there my self and it would be so sad if not everyone could experience the same.. BUT thank God for the underwater gardeners! :) Saving the world and the beautiful coral reefs at the same time!

FLYING CARPET!!!???

Hey BabooshcaBlogg readers! I was visiting bbc news (ok, I know that's lame...), but listen what I found out! I opened the bbc newspage and this headline appears:
"A miniature magic carpet made of plastic has taken flight in a laboratory at Princeton University." Omg! Technology these days.. It fantastic!:o Of course there is no people flying around on flying carpets..YET! But a prototype has been made :) The not so practical part of the carpet is that it moves a centimeter per second and needs a horizontal surface underneath to fly... But soon we will all have one! And fly around the sky with Ali Baba:)
